Walk along the Noaberpad
Walking 463 kilometres from the Dollard to the Rhine along the Dutch-German border is a journey of discovery into similarities and differences between two 'neighbours'. Enjoy fens, stop at centuries-old farms, be amazed by the landscape from north to south. The Noaberpad runs from Bad Nieuweschans to Kleve and walks along fortified towns in Groningen, raised bogs in Drenthe, burial mounds in Bentheim, stream valleys in Twente, Scholten farms in the Achterhoek and old towns in Münsterland.
The Noaberpad comes near Bed and Bike Hoogstede at two stages, these are 8 and 9, see below.
Noaberpad stage 08
Weiteveen - Emlichheim (17.4 km)
East of Schoonebeek at the Schoonebeker Diep you will see numerous nodding donkeys that pump heavy oil from deeper layers of the earth. You walk further through a wide and deserted no man's land to the Coevorden-Piccardiekanaal and further on to Emlichheim, which lies on the particularly beautiful Vecht.
We are located by the canal but in the other direction, about 6/7 km further.
Noaberpad stage 09
Emlichheim - Esche (15.7 km)
Between Emlichheim and Esche, the Noaberpad gives a beautiful picture of the diversity of the Bentheimer landscape: heathland, peatlands, wooded ridges and the river valley of the Vechte. Many castles and churches, such as the reformed church in Hoogstede , are built here from Bentheimer sandstone.
We are about 3 km from the church in a northerly direction.
